Shela's is a tough and gripping story. She has endured a lot for an 18 year old. She was brought to Canada by her uncle after war in the Congo led to the murder of her parents and her separation from most of her siblings. Now she is working hard to complete high school so she can get a better job... and she is pregnant. As she struggles to decide if she will give her child up for adoption or try to raise her on her own, we learn about how strong Shela is, and how children are often the biggest losers in war.

My heart goes out to Shela. There is a group called Canadians Concerned About Congo where you can get updates, discussions photos and videos about the tragedy that continues to unfold in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. They are trying to raise awareness, take action and urge the Canadian government to move on this issue. You can join the facebook group at: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=35855258761
